As we prepare for a long, cold and snowy winter, it is great to check out the lake situation pre-ice. The wind is still howling across the lake and not many camps are occupied this late in the Fall. The Old Farmer's Almanac is predicting a 'snow train' of bitter cold and heavy snow volume. Forecasts, like political polling are often inaccurate but history serves as a fine guide for preparation. After the drought this summer / fall, we received enough late Fall rain and a little snow to bring levels up at most streams and rivers. The level of the lake has come up a bit from the lows a couple of weeks ago.
